ABOVE THE WEATHER: The Camerawalls + Manila Symphony Orchestra

On March 15 at the Music Museum, a dream will come true and a milestone will be set. A full concert with the string section of the Manila Symphony Orchestra in a sizeable theater and our modest collection of original songs is a major feat for us. And we hope to share the experience with everyone who believed and fell in love with our music.

To our friends and followers, your support in this independently produced concert by our band and our label Lilystars Records will mean a lot in our effort to bring you more music and support other independent artists. Joining us in this event as our guests are Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter Bryan Estepa, who is flying all the way from Sydney as part of his Philippine tour to promote his latest album; and Jing Reyna-Jorge, a crossover Soprano singer, violinist and former vocalist of Sugar Hiccup. Flying from Dumaguete is upcoming singer-songwriter Meagan Trees to open the night.

The string orchestra arrangements are written by our good friend Jojo Gatmaitan, a former member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra. To give you a preview of what to expect during the show, here is an audio sample of Solitary North Star with his digital arrangements applied:

We can’t hardly wait to perform our songs with MSO! See you there!

The sound of the orchestra is one of the most magnificent musical sounds that has ever existed.  – Chick Corea

Band Member Addition & New Single In The Works

Hello! We have a lot of great news to report since our last update. First, we welcome guitarist Venj Gatmaitan to the band! He is a very talented musician and we are very happy for him to join us! This decision came shortly after our first comeback gig at 70s Bistro last December 10 where we invited him to session for us on lead guitars.

Incidentally, Venj happens to be one of the collaborators in my solo project Dragonfly Collector where he did excellent work on electric and upright bass guitars on all the recorded tracks. You will soon hear his contribution to The Camerawalls in the new single we are working on.

We are hitting the studio this week to record a brand new single with the working title “Boys In The Backroom.” Expect it to drop sometime on February with a grittier sound and approach to songwriting.

Our First Major Concert!

2017 will prove to be an important year for us not only with our comeback in the music scene, or a planned single release, but more so with a major concert that will happen on March 15 at the Music Museum. Hear our modest catalog of songs reimagined live and arranged with a 16-piece String Orchestra! A milestone in the making!

Aptly titled “Above The Weather” and with reference to sociopolitical upheaval, we wish to remain incessantly positive despite of everything and literally face the music instead.

Independently produced by Lilystars Records, this concert will also feature Filipino-Australian singer-songwriter Bryan Estepa, our brother musician from the label with a new album under his belt entitled “Every Little Thing” as part of his Philippine tour.

We also recently released a 2016 Remastered Edition CDs of our 2008 debut album “Pocket Guide To The Otherworld” and as a treat, signed copies will be given away for free to the first 30 ticket buyers. Early bird tickets are now available online at http://thecamerawalls.eventbrite.com.
